Shaughn Jenkins is a New Zealand based wine professional who most recently has helped to run a successful Central Otago cellar door & dabbles in Sommelier duties from time to time at an upscale wine bar.
Nowadays he spends his time writing for Through the Cellar Door with his favourite drink in hand.
Shaughn's passion is to talk about wine for a living, and to pass on his passion and knowledge to every visitor he meets.
Wine education is a big part of this, whether it's been educating the steward staff of Air New Zealand, hosting wine events and tastings, or just yarning on about this magical beverage.
Shaughn was nominated as Finalist and Runner-Up of the New Zealand School of Food & Wine's Young Wine Professional of the Year 2015.
He is also a member of the Queenstown Sommeliers Club and participates in food and wine shows across New Zealand and Australia.
Currently one of only 200 featured users worldwide on wine review app 'Vivino', which has over 7 million users.
"In my short time educating folks about wine, I have had the great pleasure in introducing the drink to many first time wine drinkers starting at square one, to hit back and forth with winemakers, judges and Masters of Wine, as well as teach wine to flight attendants and members of the Saudi Royal family alike!
You never know who might find a passion for wine, or how much they might already know, and really, sharing my own passion is half the fun of my day to day job!
The other half, you see, is helping others find or build upon their own passion for wine.
With this website, I hope to share my own learnings, bit by bit, as well as learn more myself, so if you ever have a wine topic you'd like to learn more about, please feel free to contact me.
