German Wine Classifications

In Germany the wine regions are divided in a complicated way.
The wine growing areas are arranged by quality, with German wine falling into two Major categories: Table Wine and Quality Wine.
This designation means little to the international community as the so-called "Table Wine" category is of mostly low-quality and rarely leaves the country.
We will instead focus on the "Quality Wine" category which can be further divided into two more categories:
Qualitätswein bestimmter Anbaugebiete (QbA), or quality wine from a specific region.
